Description:
Slender-stemmed shrub up to 3 m tall; bark grey to dark reddish-brown, with spreading hairs when young. Leaves opposite, oblong, narrowly elliptic or elliptic-lanceolate, up to 12 cm long, somewhat discolorous when young, with long hairs above, velvety beneath; petiole 1-6 mm long; stipules with base 1.5 mm long and a filiform appendage 2-7 mm long; older stipules with hairs inside. Inflorescences up to 3 cm long, axillary, 7-13-flowered. Calyx densely spreading pubescent with lobes triangular or narrowly oblong, 1.2-3 mm long. Corolla green or yellow, hairy in the throat. Fruit globose, 17-22 mm in diameter.

Derivation of specific name: proschii: after Roderich de Prosch (1866-1910), missionary and plant collector in Zambia.
Habitat: In riverine vegetation and Brachystegia or Baikiea woodland on kalahari sand, often in rocky places.
