Description:
Decumbent perennial herb. Leaves alternate, elliptic to oblanceolate-obovate with rough hairs on both surfaces. Flowers solitary in the upper leaf axils, bright yellow. Fruit small, ovoid with a terminal beak.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: katangensis: of Katanga in Southern DRC, where the type specimen was collected.
Habitat: In muddy and sandy soils on riverbanks, streamsides and seasonally flooded places.
Flowering time:Dec - Apr
Worldwide distribution: Mali, CAR, DRC, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Angola.
