Description:
Small deciduous tree with deeply ridged corky bark and branches are armed with strong curved spines. Fruits edible and very tasty. (Similar to Strychnos spinosa)

Habitat: In sandy soil in woodland and on rocky hill sides.

Worldwide distribution: Angola, Gabon, Congo-Brazzaville, DRC, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Mozambique, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia and Limpopo, Mpumalanga, South Africa.
