Densely tufted perennial. Culms 40–100 cm. high. Leaf laminae 1–2 mm. wide (when flattened), convolute, wiry. Inflorescence of 1–2 racemes, these 4–15 cm. long, bearing spikelets singly in 1 row; rhachis crescentic in section, c. 1 mm. wide, with irregularly ciliate margins. Spikelets 3.5–5 mm. long, glabrous or pubescent, obtuse, with a slight stipe at base. Inferior glume 1/2–2/3 length of spikelet, not separated from the superior. Superior glume and inferior lemma membranous. Superior lemma granulose, subacute. |
