| Notes: | Shrub; Notes: Tall bushy shrub, up to 3 m high - growing in fairly open, grassed area in mopane woodland. Stem dark grey; lateral branches spine-tipped, borne perpendicular to axis, gnarled due to remains of dwarf shoots, 2-6 cm long. Leaves tightly clustered on dwarf shoots, simple; petiole yellow-green, adaxially flattened and slightly winged, short, 2-3 mm long; lamina obovate, apex rounded to truncate, base cuneate, margin conspicuously dentate along upper margins, both surfaces glossy, bright green, glabrous, with venation relatively conspicuous as yellow adaxial markings, somewhat coriaceous. Flowers past. Fruit a berry, subglobose, slightly asymmetrical. |
