Graminoid; Notes: Slender, tufted annual grass, up to 40 cm high when in flower. Culms somewhat geniculate but generally ascending, yellow-green but nodes conspicuously purple-banded, smooth and glabrous, terete, only shortly exposed. Leaf blade expanded basally but rolled somewhat at extreme apex, bright green, softly textured with long, white, silky hairs especially abaxially, narrowly ovate to lanceolate, about 120 x 5 mm acutely arranged and not recurved. Ligule an inconspicuous ridge; collar purplish with long, white, stiff indumentum. Leaf sheath short, 3 - 4,5 cm long, sticky, bright green to purple-tinted at base, with long white hairs, not overlapping, tightly circumculmate along entire length. Inflorecence a panicle, narrowly ovoid in outline, 9 - 15 x 2 - 4,5 cm; peduncle entirely concealed by uppermost leaf; secondary axis alternate tending to be whorled and erect at base, at most 3 cm long, slender, undulate, sticky, cluster of long white hairs at junction with main axis. Spikelets minute, laterally flattened, ovate, 1,50 x 0,5 mm, pale green. |
