Stems erect, green, slender, terete, glabrous. Leaves opposite, simple, subsessile; lamina lanceolate, apex acute, base cuneate, margin irregularly dentate at base (certain teeth appear as filiform protrubrances especially in older leaves), dull olive-green, up to 80 x 7 mm, glabrous on both surfaces. Flowers in axillary/terminal racemes with paired arrangement, large, showy, up to 30 mm in diameter; penduncles 35-50 cm long. Petals 5, fused (posterior 2; anterior 3), purple-pink but white-cream to yellow in throat, tube abaxially densely pubescent, glandular.
