Leaf blade bright green, gradually tapering over a length of 12 - 20 cm, soft and tender, glabrous, normally expanded, rounded basally at collar. Ligule a band of dense, white, silky hairs, 1 mm high. Leaf sheath 6 cm long, glabrous, tightly clasping around culm. Inflorescence a compact spike, 40 - 70 mm long and 5 mm wide, borne on very slender erect, glabrous peduncle, up to 50 cm long.
