Inflorescence an open panicle, ovate in outline, 15 - 20 x 6 - 8 cm, initially ensheathed by upper leaf. Secondary axis whorled at 1 - 2 cm intervals, delicate, sinuate, spreading 1 to main axis. Spikelets paired (although often obscured due to early falling), minutely ovoid with apex acute, 1,5 x 0,5 mm, most often pendulous; stalk apically cupular, persistent.
