Stems flaccid, trailing but terminally erect, green to pink-tinted with long white indumentum, older portions surrounded by old leaf bases. Leaves spirally arranged, simple, sessile; lamina narrowly ovate to elliptic, apex tapering, base amplexicaulate, dull yellow-green, margin entire, ciliate, densely pubescent with fine, white, adpressed hairs on both surfaces, midrib abaxially prominent, diverging into numerous veins in sheath, sheath conspicuously fringed, up to 16 x 3 cm. Flowers in dense terminal spikes (usually dichasia), 50 mm long, borne on peduncles 1 - 9 cm long, brown, densely pubescent; flowers minute, 5 mm long.
