Inflorescence a spike arranged digitately (3 - 5) at terminal end of peduncle, about 6 cm long, somewhat ascending to spreading; peduncle slender, erect, terete, glabrous, enveloped by upper leaf to large extent. Spikelets arranged densely on undersurface of axis, ellipsoid but laterally flattened, interspersed with long, white hairs; awns longer than spikelets, slightly bent, sturdy, greenish; base of secondary axis blackish with dense, white velutinous indumentum.
