Caprivi: Inkasa Island: malapo on banks of Linyandi River.2080Namibia (Caprivi Strip)1725C3 930Graminoid; Notes: Tufted, perennial grass, up to 1 mm high when in flower. Culms sturdy, erect to basally slightly geniculate but then sharply ascending, yellow-green, nodes brown-banded, smooth, glabrous. Leaf blades 6 - 30 cm long, linear, tightly rolled and gradually tapering to a sharp tip, basally somewhat expanded but not differentiated at collar, yellow-green ciliate with long, white, straight hairs concentrated along basal margin, fairly erect and rigid, persistent. Ligule a narrow membranous ridge bearing dense white indumentum which extends onto collar region. Leaf sheath overlapping at basal region of culm only, about 7 cm long, tightly clasping, canaliculate, about glabrous except for upper margin at collar junction, yellowish to conspicuously maroon-tinted at base. Inflorescence an open panicle, broadly ovoid in outline, about 20 x 8 cm, borne on slender peduncle, 20 - 30 cm long. Secondary axis alternate to basally whorled, slender, flexuous, glabrous but for conspicuous long, white, bristle-like indumentum at junction with main axis, 3 - 4 cm long. Spikelets stalked to subsessile, ovate to narrowly ovate, 5 - 12 x 2 - 3 mm. Lower glumes purple-tinted with long white bulbous-based hairs along margin, awnless.-17.78330025.2075005
