Date of birth: 1862 Date of death: 20 Jun 1934 Biography(English-)South African naturalist, botanist (mycologist). BSc. in Botany at the University of Edinburgh, lecturer in botany at a college in Glasgow (1896 - 1904). He undertook numerous botanical expeditions in Africa, including as a member of an English-French border commission and as a plant collector (Sierra Leone, East Africa, Madagascar). He also collected in Chile, Argentina and on the Canary Islands. Author of 'New and little-known Madagascar plants', 'A naturalist in Mid-Africa' and 'Sierra Leone; reports on botany
and geology'. |
