Description of the genus

Annual herbs. Leaves alternate. Inflorescence of small flowers in glomerules of cymules at end of branches or in axils of upper leaves. Petals absent. Calyx membranous, splitting into 3 valvate lobes. Fruit a 2-lobed, smooth capsule; cocci bi-valved. Seeds ovoid.

Worldwide: 4 species in Namibia and South Africa.
