Description of the genus

Low, rounded semi-succulent subshrubs, repeatedly branched; branches articulate, becoming striate. Leaves opposite, scale-like. Inflorescence small, dense, terminal, woolly bracteate spikes. Flowers solitary in axils of bracts. Tepals 5, free, 1-nerved, acuminate, silky. Fruit a capsule, indehiscent, falling early with perianth.

Worldwide: Monotypic genus, confined to the west coast of Namibia, with 1 somewhat doubtful record from Caprivi.

Caprivi: 1 taxon.
